CHEVRON CORPORATION
Chevron corporation is the second largest oil and gas company in United States after ExxonMobil which is located in San Ramon, California. It conducts business worldwide under Chevron, Texaco, and Caltex brands.
The mission of this company is “Our company’s foundation is built on our values, which are distinguish us and guide our actions. We conduct our business in a socially responsible and ethical manner. We respect the law, support universal human rights, protect the environment, and benefit the communities where we work”.
POLITICAL
Having good corporation with the government means being transparent with and responsive to its shareholders while managing the company for long-term success. Chevron has strict policies and internal approval processes so that decision making and reporting are protected by legal law.
In 2009, Chevron participated for the global contribution through the Chevron Employees Political Action Committee (CEPAC). Chevron is one of the largest political contributors for Republican and Democratic candidates for congress. In 2009, chevron through CEPAC contributed $ 254,000 to the election of candidates from both parties for U.S. federal office.
ENVIRONMENTAL
Chevron’s main products are from nature resources. Since, they activities may damage the nature, the company make a commitment that they will protect the environment as well. To protect the nature, the company use Operational Excellence Management System.
SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC
Having a good relationship with the society is really necessary for this company, in order to build a long-term success. Making good relations among societies is one of Chevron Corporation’s strategies. One of the programs to societies is improving the quality of life in societies where they operate requires having access to health care, food, water, housing, sanitation, and any other basic needs. In 2009, chevron built 3 Smiling Sun clinics to provide health care in Bangladesh. They did this because, in Bangladesh there is more than 45% of the country’s natural gas needs.
TECHNOLOGY
Chevron have three technology companies that support their businesses: Energy Technology Company, Chevron Technology Ventures and Information Technology Company. They emerge technologies to create new commercial opportunities, reduce costs, and improve performance through technology ventures. To explore the drilling sites, they use three-dimensional imagery. The researchers in Houston analyze 8 petabytes of computerized data to determine where pockets of oil below the sea floor may be located.
